And now, I’m doing stand-up comedy in addition to the radio. So the employment without really working continues.
I have just reunited on-air with one of my best friends Jenn Hobby on Atlanta’s Star 94.1 for The Jeff and Jenn Show. We are on the air weekdays from 5:30-10 a.m. so tune-in for lots of laughs and fun time.
Other fun things I’ve done in the past few years: I’ve owned a couple restaurants, rescued the best dog on the planet, designed a line of jewelry, had my heart stopped and restarted, ran a half-marathon, raced a few triathlons, and got engaged to a woman way out of my league.
You heard that right. I’m a triathlete.
I was never an athletic person, but something really cool happened in 2012: CNN and Dr. Sanjay Gupta changed my life by asking me to be a part of their Fit Nation Triathlon Challenge. I went from never working out to swimming, biking, and running across the finish line of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon after 9 months of training. The transformation was an amazing experience, and the fact that I inspired others through both CNN and The Bert Show was as awesome to me as the athletic achievements. Over the next couple years, I did a few more triathlons and one half-marathon, and hope to continue to inspire people to reach their own personal goals for a long time.
I was born and raised in Syracuse, New York and my parents still live there. I only visit them up there during the few months out of the year when it’s not cold, otherwise they have to come see me or we have to meet somewhere warm. I was raised as an only child, but a few years ago I reconnected with my half-brother. He’s real-deal country from North Carolina. He makes his own beef jerky, plays mandolin, and throws knives. Everyone calls him ‘Big Dave.’
I live in Sandy Springs with my fiancé Callie and our dogs, Sadie and Blair. They are both rescues from the Atlanta Humane Society. Sadie even has her own Instagram and Twitter accounts, which is really impressive considering she doesn’t have thumbs.
Here’s some other random stuff:
I’m a social media addict, I hate talking on the phone but will text you all day long, I lie about how much I read, I love being outdoors, I spend too much on technology and gadgets that I don’t need, my birthday (November 10) is a two-week long event, I’m awesome cooking on the grill, I am a compulsive list-maker, I spend as much of summer as I can on a boat, and breakfast is my favorite meal.
Here’s even more random stuff:
I’m a part of the Atlanta chapter of The Recording Academy, also known as The GRAMMYs, I serve the Governor on the Georgia Commission for Film, Music, and Digital Entertainment, working to bring entertainment business to the State of Georgia. I’m still recognized from when I worked as the live entertainment host at Turner Field, where I entertained over 7 million baseball fans between 2006 and 2008. I gladly donate my time to great causes that really made a difference, including the TJ Martell Foundation, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, The Rally Foundation, Share Our Strength / No Kid Hungry, Ian’s Friends Foundation, Usher’s New Look, and more.
